Author’s Notes: Just something I was bored and thought of. Originally I was going to name the daughter Caitlin-Kelly after Kate and Gibbs' daughter Kelly, but a friend mentioned it might have been too personal. Maybe for another story.
When sixteen year old Caitlin-Michelle brings her first boyfriend home, she doesn't bring him to the house she lives in. No, she brings him to NCIS to meet her entire family, not just her parents. Before the elevator even finishes opening, they're all there, lined up in the bullpen waiting. Abby and Ziva, of course are at the head of the pack, standing beside Ziva's desk. Gibbs, Tony and McGee standing behind them, with Jenny bringing up the rear.
"Hey guys!" Caitlin-Michelle says, with a cheery-nervous laugh. "This is James Hanson. James, these are my parents Abby and Ziva."
Abby shakes his hand and gives him a small smile, but it's not as friendly as her usual ones. Ziva just stands there, arms crossed over her chest and gives the boy a sharp nod. She's already decided that no man is good enough for her daughter, possibly even no woman if the case may be.
After saying hello to the parents, James' attention turns to Gibbs, "You must be her grandfather," he says as he takes a step closer with his hand held out.
Everyone in the room silently freezes as they wait for Gibbs to get angry at being called a grandpa. He doesn't though. Instead he takes the young man's hand in his own, and gives it a firm shake. "Special Agent Gibbs. And I'm not exactly her grandpa. More like, her guardian." Even though the tone is pleasant, the threat is still there.
"We're her other guardians," DiNozzo says, pointing between himself and McGee.
"And we aren't so subtle," McGee adds.
"Are you another guardian?" James asks Jenny.
Jenny gives him a warm smile. "No," she says with a quick shake of the head, "but I am the guardians boss and I personally over see every project they handle." Just like Gibbs, her tone is also gentle but threating.
"Okay!" Caitlin-Michelle says, as she moves in between everyone to stand next to James. "If you're done frightening my boyfriend, can we go now?"
"Yes sweetie, you can go," Abby says and Caitlin-Michelle lets out a sigh of relief as she quickly says goodbye and drags James to the elevator.
Once they're gone, the team turns to each other.
"Don't you mean, 'former Special Agent'?" DiNozzo asks Gibbs, to which his only reply is a smack on the back of the head.
"Apparently not too former enough to smack you, Tony!" Ziva laughs at her new boss being hit by her old one.
"Apparently," Tony mumbles to himself as he sits down at his desk.
"I like him," Abby says cheerfully.
"You do?" Ziva gives her a questioning look.
"He didn't run away screaming after meeting you."
"Or Gibbs" McGee says as he sits down at his own desk.
Ziva seems to ponder this briefly for a minute, before she nods. "This is true."
"So does this mean I have to worry about any of my current or former agents shooting him?" Jenny asks.
"Not at the moment," Ziva answers.
